  • Smashed my 10mile PB by over 5mins yesterday at the lumpy Wimborne 10.

I was all set to retire from running on a high after believing I had finished in front of Steve Way - Turns out he must have been seriously playing down his lack of form and injury on Strava, 'cos he ended up finishing 3rd, 7mins in front.....

  • Smashed my 10mile PB by over 5mins yesterday at the lumpy Wimborne 10.

    Great running, well done.

  • Cheers mate, it bodes well for the 10k next Sunday. Possible sub 40min 10k on the cards.

Well done to you too on your adventure!

  • Ok well just about recovered from EfM, 71.5 miles covered but less than 60 as the crow flies (although due to the curvature of the earth, crow would have to do some digging as well as flying)
The bitter sub zero temps, and midnight start weren't ideal. Also my routing was shit, I had to climb down off a steep embankment to escape the hardshoulder madness that was the A5.
The A4146 was even worse, a small country road, with long straights that had cars approaching at 70+ mph and me diving onto the verge.
Had bad acid reflux and the shits.
But despite all of that I enjoyed it, much fun texting rhb and mutual piss take.
    Will do again.

  • "...nice weather in January"

    Not this country- Camino?

I marked a milestone (tombstone) birthday by hiring a guide and climbing Striding Edge in January a few years ago

  • The upthread mentioned Springvale Spirals was last night. Due to the recent storm, all the roads which include cobbles and flaggs were a bit greasy so my initial target of 40 mins got away from me pretty early on. However, I just snuck inside my secondary target of 42 mins to get a 41.57. Mainly thanks to the runner who came past me in the last k and got me into chasing him down the hill.

7.3k, 296 m of climbing, 38 left turns. I'm happy enough with that.

  • 38 left turns

    Dizzy?

  • much fun texting rhb and mutual piss take.

    Will do again.

Number saved for 2017, June or Nov though? Lining up both I reckon but cutting down what I carry by lots.

P.s. Cheers for tip on 'The Drop 50' i'll pass but reckon @_Leon would enjoy.

  • First run in 3 months at the newly resurrected Run Dem Crew session. spent 2 of those months literally in bed sleeping thanks to some serious migraine issues and nasty medication which has ballooned my weight so quite surprised I managed to cover 4.5 miles. helps that running in a big group through london involves plenty of stops but seriously felt like bailing at 1.5 miles turns out was just your usual early run tightness and soon loosened up a bit again.

  • @HatBeard - did your group run up Tooley Street towards London Bridge yesterday evening, about 8pm or thereabouts? Was a little envious but not by much.

  • My sister and her partner (and someone else I don't know) have started up a running club in Nunhead...

    Runhead
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/runhead/

Very much social at the moment. 4 or 6 mile at varying paces, finish at the Beer Shop for a few drinks and food.

So if anyone's around that way and group to get started with. 80 odd members so far.

  • I'm Nunhead way, might join them for a run or two.

could have been the long run group. I think they went out over tower bridge

  • Anyone using the Forerunner 35? I fancy the 235 but that is a bit pricey for my needs and the 35 seems to cover the important stuff.

At registration you will hand over all electronic devices, phones, watches and money! In return you will be given a GPS tracker, a race number and an emergency bag*.

You will be placed on our bus, blindfolded** and then driven to a location 50 miles away (as the crow flies) from the event centre. Here you will be released at 2 minute intervals, all you have to do is make your way back to the event centre.

    No Map
    No GPS
    No Route
    No Help
    No Compass

You are fully self sufficient from the moment you leave the coach, make your own way. So run, walk or crawl your way back

  • ^ bookmarked...

  • I have a big ride in June but November chilly :( maybe I will have forgotten that by then.

Re the drop ,the disadvantage for Southerners is local knowledge.

IIRC the Karrimor mountain marathons used to keep the location a secret until just before the event- they could be anywhere in the country, to prevent recces

  • Very tempted by the Hill, but unlikely to get an entry given its in a couple of weeks - sounds barbaric.

edit: Not being held this year anyway.

  • Checkout Cotswold Camping in Covent Garden- they are on sale atm

  • southern night champs on quantock this weekend. campervan. night race. whisky. win.

  • Looks fun. Whisky & Campervan the way to go too.

  • November chilly :( maybe I will have forgotten that by Friday when entries open.

    Ftfy.

  • Damn it, The Drop looks fun and not far from where I grew up. But clashes with Etape Lochness.

  • 235, you won't regret it. Parhaps wait until after Christmas and there are sales?
