  • Cheers, I'm aiming to keep hr low so rpe will reflect that even if means more walking.

Just panic bought new Gloves for comfort, Montane Prism, double discount at go-outdoors so paid 24 in the end... they're toasty warm.

Anyone else half expecting @kl to rock up at the start to race in vest & shorts?

  • double discount at go-outdoors

    Talk to me.

  • Till chap discounted it 10% below price match twice, it didn't occur to me until after I'd left shop. #lucky

  • I have glove envy now- weather looks parky

  • I'm an utter twat- I have a box full of chemical hand/feet warmers at home :(

  • good luck @rhb and @Spares

  • Both are doing well so far I think.
    #dotwatching

  • Link to the tracker?

  • Ace, both look to be going pretty well.

  • Crazy event. Short notes in not much order. Hung out and shared Stout with @Spares at race hq routes were oppo ends of country as expected, stayed in touch by text good to hear his stories.

Plans changed, buddied up with a clubmate (unknown until met on train down) which changed expectations but we'd follow my plan (canals)

No point going past Stoke as arrived at time when onward running would mean v.expensive taxi or stranded.

    Saw an awesome shooting star.

Not slept since i got up 6.30am Fri.

Canal paths are fucking boring after a while.

  • Well done 😀

Canal paths are probably getting a bit dangerous when you've been on the go for that long!

  • When i was solo Stone -> Stoke I was close to the edge a couple of times!

Pretty fucked today, ate all the things which should help for tomorrow.

Already discussed a return in 2017 to stick solo and see how much further can go, assuming it's Meriden again as my route is flat and now recce'd out a few nav mistakes so will flow better. I can train from doorstep with simple 'build peak taper' schedule late summer onwards based on run commutes and Sunday early start long run/walks.

  • Well done again dude :) Sounds like it was worth doing!

  • I went for a run today, it was cold, muddy and there weren't any good dogs. Ended up in Prestbury and the gold landrovers, obnoxiously loud supercars (20mph speed limit, dicks) and gross mansions really fucked me off. Will head in the other direction next time.

  • Cheers, was awesome. Had I got towards Congleton I'd have been on Canal to Macclesfield.

Sounds like your run was fun, dogs are mostly p.i.t.a. but that's 99% owners. Middewood way and canal great training ground for a future EfM attempt should you get the bug...

  • 60+ miles covered but still sub30 as the crow flies:

    Epic wandering.

  • Yeah, might head down that way or maybe see if I can catch a lift over to Macc Forest or similar for a bit...

  • Definitely wandery!

I was surprised that people went North and into the lumpy Peak District. I can only guessing that was them heading home.

  • #166 was using quite a good PD route plan I thought. Was with him Shustoke -> Fazely. He was picking up the Tissington Trail full length so gradual incline only to gain the height into the Peak. Passing thru Earl Sterndale (DtD route) after T.Trail from there not much more climb before long drop into Buxton.

  • Any recommendations for somewhere with good running (trail) nearby, interesting architecture and nice weather in January?

I'm considering a long weekend somewhere; I've a milestone birthday coming up so something a bit different could be enjoyable.

  • I may have mentioned this a while back but I started a new parkrun in Beckenham Place Park. We're now up and running so come say hi if you visit. If anyone wants to ask about starting another one, give me a shout.

  • Congrats on getting that up and running, great news! I've just looked up the event page, nearly 200 finishers for a first event is impressive. Beckenham's more of a bike ride than a jog away for me but I'm pretty sure I'll come along to that before too long. I see the winner was a guy I've just narrowly beaten in the two XC races so far this season so we could have a good ding-dong.

  • Nice one!
