Anyone got a 19" hardtail around £500 for sells? My brother in law's on the lookout.

I have a project for £40 (plu P&P) on pinkbike, definately not ready to go but you could spend the rest of the budget on a decent fork, wheels, drivetrain etc...
-
• #9381
You can buy new for that if you don't mind an 'uncool' brand like Vitus, Calibre and whatnot
Canyon might do something for £500 maybe On One too...

• #9382
My Vitus was £250 and is great fun. Either save some money or spend the remainder on some squidgy forks.

Dented Niner chainstay with heel turning around a zillion times. Bike was built for not caring what happens in mud etc. I really care. Bollocks.

Anyone interested in an old Light & Motion Hid Arc setup? Decided to replace it with something with a longer run time. PM me for details, or I'll start a sales thread in a day or two.
Probably looking for about £45

U-Turn coil kits are apparently ridiculously expensive, so I'm buying a different Lyrik.
Will have my Lyrik RC2L with Solo Air up for sells instead. 160mm travel, set at 150, 1 1/8" steerer (~185mm), Mission Control damper, stanchions perfect, lowers and crown a bit tatty. Could probably do with an oil change but it works lovely.
£150 takes it

First ride-
Dialled Bikes prince Albert 853
LSX/XT 2x10 Drive train
Hope Mono Mini Brakes
Superstar 26" wheels, tubeless.
Rockshocks revelation set at 5"Seems a lot more stable uphill than the old 456, nice an nimble down the single track. Feels a lot lighter than the 456 but only about a pound and a half in it. It likes air on the down hills
First impressions, Pure grin!

Bontrager XR4 - 2.35 front and back, or 2.2 on the rear?
-
• #9396
Less grip and drag on the back isn't bad but then nor is more cushion. Eithers probably good

Anyone got a half decent suss fork they'd like to sell me? I'm not loaded but I want to get my dale out in the woods and I'm not so comfy with the idea of full rigid :s

Thetford is pretty flat but what gear ratio is a safe bet if it's muddy, etc? I have 40x17 on now which is ok for me pushing the fat tyres on road but knobbies in dirt? No idea. Should I fit a 36T up front? 32T?
Oh, this is for 3hr race, not pootling around. Although I may just be pootling around if it all goes wrong :)
Come up to the Peak District and I'll throw a sicky...
