I'm currently making a bed! (well, designing it). I did think about doing a floater similar kind of thing to yours. I think I'm going with a pretty minimal skinny tubed Aluminium box section framed design that I'll polish up as best I can. I'm going to use work facilities and do something with lazer cut coloured acrylic sheet in the headboard. Might turn out nice might turn out shite. It'll be good fun to make though. Going to try and go for no external visible fixings.

Bed update...
LEDs have been fixed and synced with my alarm clock. Ash arrived yesterday so I've got to fix it to the edges and varnish then it's done. New carpet down too.
