Storing logs a bit close to your stove is basically the same as doing one of those flying squirrel suit base jumps.

I've got a wood burning stove which is in almost daily use and the wood next to it gets pretty hot- I wouldn't store it like that myself. Looks cool tho.
Forgot to say any combustible material should be x3 the distance of the diameter of the flue I think under the regs, I.e 5 inch flue then 15inch gap, which can be halved in some circumstances if there is hardibacker or similar as a barrier. Again that might be overkill, but that flue could be 900 degrees or so at full chat and that wood next to it will be getting pretty hot. And if some of it falls against the flue there may well be a problem...
I think you lot need to live a little, the wood is fine at this distance from the stove/flue.
