• At long last I'm selling my wooden bike hangars - designed by me, cut using lasers and assembled by hand in SE15.

I'll be producing these in small batches and initially only selling to the UK, with a view to accepting international orders if the interest is there.
Any questions and feedback is always welcome. This is the start of what I'd love to be a thriving little business, so anything I can do to improve I will endeavour to do.

The price is £149 plus postage.
Please visit http://www.themoderncarpenter.com/shop/bikeblock to place an order.
Many thanks for having a look. I'm nervously excited to get this started.

  • This looks lovely, good idea and good luck!

  • Looks very slick! Good luck with your venture...

  • sweet. been meaning to drop you a line about these. will do via pm.

  • Looks great, I've got a couple of questions.
How much is postage, and is it possible to collect instead?
    Are they flat packed?

  • Dimensions, please? Am assuming there is some kind of screw fitting/hanger into the wall?

    Looks very smart.

    GLWS

  • Well done.
A nicely designed solution to an age old problem.
    All the best.

  • Postage is 12 quid uk, but I'd be quite happy for you to collect instead.
They come fully assembled and varnished/oiled (I use a matt hardwax oil called PolyX which is hardwearing, lets the wood breathe and is generally lovely)

  • Hiya,
It's 300mm wide, juts out from the wall around 250mm, and total height is around 330mm.
It screws into the wall - actually this is something I need to write about on the site - using two decent screws. I'll supply them and the rawl plugs, but it does need to be screwed into brick, concrete or sturdy wood. If it's screwed into plasterboard, it definitely won't stay up!

  • It is very nice but quite expensive. I guess if you want to store your gleaming, unused bike on the wall of your meticulously-designed home, it's a fitting solution; but £10's worth of deep, plastic-covered metal wall hooks will do in my garage. Good luck!

  • Oh, absolutely - there are plenty of plastic and metal hook solutions out there, and I'm not pretending I want to compete with those. As my blurb says, my intention is to provide a beautiful bit of furniture for inside your home. I guess this was born when my girlfriend started to properly complain about bikes being cluttered everywhere against all available walls... in order to keep my bikes indoors and in convenient positions, I had to find a way to make them look pretty and neat.

  • Very nice, have a bump!

  • Thanks!
If anyone might be thinking about buying one of these for christmas, it's best to get your order in early. I've got about 8 in stock right now, and will be looking to get a bigger run on the go if the interest is there.
