I have never successfully trimmed hoses without needing to rebleed, I am not convinced it is possible.
If its any consolation you wouldnt need to do a full bleed (opening bleed port on the brake) as presumably the lower end of the system will have nice fresh oil in it with no bubbles. Just top the lever reservoir up with oil, give the cables and lever a good waggle - then compress the lever 10 times with the bleed block inbetween the pistons present to force out anymore bubbles. Easy
