  • @Silly_Savage

you can take a bone white wiped N4 (like completely erased) back to life if you can boot into the boot loader.

You need the proper crap on your PC though.

broadly speaking the steps are as follows:

    1. get fastboot and ADB on your PC. google it. this is probably the most elusive step and you should just go to XDA for the Nexus 4 and read around to find a good install file.
    2. download the Recovery (TWRP is probably best), ROM (simple is best) and appropriate Open GAPPS ((7.0 7.0... ? I recommend the Pico build of whatever GAPPS)
    3. Boot into the Bootloader and then "Fastboot" whatever recovery you want. Google how to fastboot recovery. At this point you have recovery.
    4. Boot into the recovery.
    5. Using recovery, perform a full wipe of everything.
    6. Go into Sideload mode and "sideload" the ROM and GAPPS. Google it.
  • This is exactly what I did, tried cwm/ twrp/ stock. All get stuck before entering recovery. @aggi, thanks, I'll try that. The command indicates that the recovery images are loading properly. Is it worth wiping the cache?
