Buy some nice 2nd hand stuff in classifields - gets you higher quality much cheaper.

Don't be too hasty. Get good parts that will last and need less servicing.

Ha, I've just used what looks like the same rack (£10 off eBay) to create my own bodged front rack. Thought I'd been clever and was about to post on the racks thread showing my ingenuity! My phone camera is fucked tho so no pics...
I bodged more than you and got it lower...
First, hacksawed off the "front" loop leaving the light bracket thing at the front. Then spun it around and used this to mount directly to the fork bridge mudguard mount. If yours is the same this may work. Unsure of structural integrity but time will tell...
Pics will follow in a few days. Will put them in the front rack thread....
Edit: just looked again and your rack may be subtlety different - this was mine:

Ok, two crappy pics of it. And it's called "author" not "accord", sorry.

Much clearer (really!) thanks.
You could potentially cut, re-squish and re-drill the ends of the struts to suit, I've done that with other racks with good results. -

Tried this, the alu tube cracked when squishing it. Could have heated it up and tried again I suppose but couldn't be bothered.

My ultra low budget fixeh beater evolves: stripped and covered saddle, mudguard, some neon paint and a sharpie track-end 'conversion' which serves no purpose at all. 35€ spent in total so far...

Ha, fooled me.

First test ride to work today, needs a few tweaks. Inline post (slack st angle), stem down, front mudguard curvature, etc. And the rando bag setup. But pleased with it overall, should get me through the winter!

Why are you riding that and spending money when you have got this:
-
• #111140
Because I'm currently back again in the Netherlands where I used to study and I kept a beater bike here at my friends place/former student house.
I'm not really spending money on it. The 35€ is made up of a chain for 10€ and a fixed rear wheel for 25€, the frame was removed as a wheel-less pos from a public bike rack by a community worker and I asked if I could have it before they throw it away. All other parts are from the parts bin and/or donations from friends.

Went to Grand Bois cycles in Kyoto today - couple of sets of Cypres tyres purchased - £30 a pop even with the shitty exchange rate...

Almost finished the old Scott Pro Racing today. Built to be a fun pub bike when the weather gets warmer. I got the frame for free and have sourced parts here and there. 1x10 SLX, CK headset, Thomson bars, Kalloy post, ebay narrow-wide 38t, XT/Mavic wheels.
Need to find another stem cause the drop is a bit too extreme now, put on ESI grips and find some nice tyres for it.

Todays mission, im not a big fan of threadless "classic" forks, some months ago i came over a 1" threadless MX leader pista fork.
Welded a threaded piece from a crashed fork so it was easier to start with the threadtool :)
