I need to shed some more and buy shed I mean 'get rid of' because I still don't have a shed. :S
But now I've seen cheap carbon rims that haven't killed people and I want to throw a set of them on a dyno hub for TransAm. sigh

Ah balls, the updated pic of those R24 on CRC confirms they are some wierd narrow R24 from the back of the DT Swiss warehouse somewhere.

Mines arriving later today. Will be sending it straight back.

from the back of the DT Swiss warehouse
I think one of the reviews may have spotted the real issue - not from the back of DT's warehouse, but from the back of some bike assemblers warehouse where they had some leftover OEM "R24"s made down to an OEM price point, rather than the usual retail version.

I took a punt on these as well, and being in Denmark returning them isn't free. But customer service has just confirmed that they'll pay return postage, if they aren't the same ones as was first listed.

You did indeed, how did you know?

Are there any UK suppliers of wide shallow crabon rims/ wheels or is eBay/ China best?

Pretty naughty of them to list them with some mega discount when in fact, they were never available at full retail price. Aren't there rules about that?
I'm quite glad as wider rims have been on my wanted list for some time. However with the other transport just through MOT, my lady's birthday later this week and the endless expense of Christmas set before me, I always feel poor at this time of year. Glad I've not missed a bargain.

If they're the only retailer of the wheels, then yes, as they've effectively set the 'RRP' and therefore the massive discount.

Is there not some sort of rule about must have previously been advertised at RRP for a certain length of time? See DFS...

Received my set of 'not quite DT r24s' this morning.
Just live chatted and have negotiated a £25 credit note instead of returning them.

so I won?
There are no winners here

Few minutes pottering in the garage,
and,
I have found the pair of Schwalbe One (700 x 23) that mespilus jr. turned his nose up at.
Fitting them will be a job for tomorrow in the daylight. -

Le sigh, I'll be having my turn to have a word with crc tomorrow. They'll be going straight back.

Gah the fake R24 have a really nasty cheap rim and plain gauge spokes. Do not want even at £75.

I'm always weary of Black Friday 'deals'...

The Lezyne 400 light set for £19.99 are decent
-
• #7023
I only managed a £20 apology voucher from them, my negotiations skills clearly aren't up to scratch.
-
• #7024
Hang on - you returned them for a refund, and they gave you an extra £20?
Sounds like a kinda-maybe-ok result

That was the 1st offer I received.
Never accept a 1st offer.
I'm now wondering if it is worth keeping them for £75 after dubtaps post ^^^^.
First time I have bought a wheelset, previously just bought 2nd hand bikes and ridden whatever they came with, so now experiencing Buyer's Remorse just looking at the delivery boxes.
Bit too retro really, the frame is 1999.
