I'd like to buy my old man a decent Chef's knife for Christmas. He's... well, a bit crap about caring for things with very particular routines, so it probably has to be stainless and 'sharpenable' with a normal steel. Any advance on Global?
Edit: bugger, just remembered it might be 'bad luck'. Will have to have a think about whether I believe in all that mumbo jumbo. Don't thinl he does.
Agree on the Victorinox chef's knife. Very good for the price, keeps a decent edge and sharpens well. It doesn't look as nice or expensive as a Global though (although personally I far prefer the handle on the Victorinox, I can't get on with the Global handles).
