  • Just a tip. Theres a canon 50mm mk1 prime, it is the good quality version of the more common mk2. The mk2 is all cheapo plastic but does the job pretty well. So find the mk1 if you can

    The 50mm 1.4 is worth a look too if you want to spend a bit more.

  • Did some research...

    1000D is an APS-C sensor, EFS lens. Canon's EFS Primes are 24mm or 60mm.

    APS-C bodies do take EF lenses, but 1.6x crop applies, so 50mm effectively becomes 80mm. So if I'm looking at EF primes, I'll need something like a 28mm or 35mm EF Prime, which would become 45mm and 56mm respectively.

    Guy at work says "don't spend too much, nice lens on a cheap body probably doesn't look as good as the kitlens that comes with a nicer body for the same total price."
