I've out 2000 miles into a pair of Zipps, without any issues whatsoever. They've been rock solid thus far.

Everything I've read about zipps says the hubs are junk.
This is true. The fronts explode, and the rears either have massive amounts of play or massive amounts of freehub drag. The rims are great, but the hubs are awful. I've ended up having my pair of 404s rebuilt onto Tune hubs, the Zipp ones were so awful.

DT swiss R24 wheelset
didn't know there 2 width flavours, also total weight 1940g, wtf?
-
• #6962
Are these some 2014 model or something?
-
• #6963
yeah they are the old ones, heavier with narrower rim.

It's much more likely that CRC's product database is full of junk than that these are some mysterious pre-production variant of the R24. I have some of the earliest R24s, and they are 18mm internal and 1800g actual weight without tape or skewers.

Checked DT Swiss tech manuals and the R24/R24 db only appear in the 2015 range.
2014 was R23 only in the wide rims -

These ones look exactly the same as the ones I bought, which are definitely 18mm internal.
-
• #6970
So I cancelled my order for nothing? Bollocks twice!
-
• #6972
Worth a punt re-ordering at that price, even if they aren't wide for whatever reason. Really happy with mine and I paid about £140 I think.
-
• #6973
Yeah. I tried to find some 14mm internal DT swiss R24 wheels over the interwebs with the only result being chainreaction. Must be an error in the description, or some other wheels. Either way, taking the punt.

How many cases of failed fronts were there before they did the recall? If I'm not breaking them, how fat do you actually have to be to destroy them??!
Americans >>>
I have two pairs, one with Powertap/DT 180, the other with 240s F/R, the Powertap set I got for £1,100, the 240s I got for ~£700.
You can get good deals on these wheels if you hunt around (second hand), new it's crazy money I agree, at £800 per rim, then everything else on top.
Having ridden tubeless on the CAAD12 I'd not go back to tubed clinchers or tubs on a modern bike, although I'll likely run tubulars on the Gravity Shadow as it'll be using rim brakes.
