Spotted this frame in BLB
Hope you didnt pay too much!

I probably did tbh. Hence why I hadn't bought it before. But it's all relative I guess.

Forum's favorite Deda Piegas for bars? + whichever 26mm quill stem you fancy...

Perfect. Thanks.

They only come in black tho, which shouldn't be a problem in combination with a black stem. If you want them silver, you have to sand down the middle part which is about 1-2h of work but doable... Soma Hwy 1 come in silver but they're a bit more expensive (also 26,0 afaik).

Another SRAM 653 ! Love it mate ... wheel choice?
Might be up for splitting shipping on some China crabon rims ...

Just checked out your Rourke. Very nice. How are you getting on with the SRAM? I've only used Shimano before, but tried SRAM on a mate's bike. Partly going for SRAM as it looks less bulky, and more suitable for skinny steel tubing.
Not sure about wheelset yet. I was thinking more towards Mavic and H plus Son.

Getting on with the SRAM group just fine, it was strange to start with, very positive feeling when changing gears, which is why I think SRAM is so marmite for people. Going to put my Rival compact chainset on it this week as I'm not getting on with the 53/39 on the FSA's.
I was looking at Archetypes laced to Hopes or something similar. Still indecisive — for not much more cash though you can get 50mm carbon rims, as long as you're building yourself.

How about some Ambrosio Excellight rims in black? ! Goes nicely with a SRAM group on steel. :)

So many spokes

So I wasn't doing well at Sourcing a SRAM rival groupset and suitable wheels, and ended up buying a complete bike with the groupset and decent wheelset.
Just getting the remaining parts (stem, seat post, gear cable guides) in the next few days then ready to piece together. I'd really like to build this up myself rather than pass on to a bike shop. Learn through doing etc. I don't have the knowledge or tools though tbh. If anybody, with the right tools and skills, (ideally in east London) fancies a day of bike building let me know! It'd be much appreciated.

This is promising.
There's a thread for 26.0mm compact bars but you've covered the bases most people go for already.
Looking forward to seeing this progress! -

Thanks. I actually went for the Deda Piegas bars. And some black Fizik tacky tape to wrap them in. Black threaded Ritchey headset (partly because the angular shape went nicely with the rival). Saddle will be an old black Regal I already have, for the time being. And a pair of black Elite bottle cages, to keep it partly period correct!

This thread has been pretty useless, lacking in progress photos. But the bike is complete and looking sweet. Final piece was a Fabric Scoop saddle just now. Big thanks to the guys at SBC Cycles. Proof is in the pudding so going to test ride properly tomorrow.
I'll also take some pics. In the meantime, I'd like to think it resembles this...

So went out for a couple of hours on it today. Rides nice and smooth. Def nippier than my bike before. Going to take a few rides to get used to the Sram and slightly lower bars than I had previously. (I know they aren't that low, but lower for me)

Thanks. Agreed. On the the to do list.
So after watching and searching for bargain Caad 10's and 12's on eBay, and umming and ahhing over Ritchey Logics, I went left field. Spotted this frame in BLB over a year ago and seeing it again sparked the same lustful emotions. So just bit the bullet. The frame is 653. The paint, although chipped and scratched heaps, is awesome.
My plan is to build it up with 10 speed SRAM, probably Force. Black quill stem, headset, seat post, tape. And want to find modern bars that will fit with the quill. Advise and suggestions welcome. Never built up a road bike, and will be looking for secondhand parts mostly.
