It's a beautiful bike but I don't necessarily see why the unpainted, only primed frame, appearing in a book (which isn't about the frame as such, it's about the builder) would increase the value?
If you split I'd be interested in taking the stem/bars

Wheelset - £275
Freewheel - £45
Chainset - £130
Bars + stem - £50
Seatpost - £25
Saddle - £40
Brake levers - £60
Brakes - £50
Pedals - £50So around £675 in parts... Maybe less for wheels as the surfaces are worn...
They should be pretty fair prices for the parts in terms of what they're worth in this market place, generous in some cases.... Add them up and it leaves a quite pricey second hand frame, nice as it is, £1175 is a fair bit of cash.

It's a lovely frame though, deserving of a good price, but upwards of a £1000 for the frame is slightly too high imho

This frame would be equal to, or better than many NJS frames that are on the market anywhere from £400 - 700. Given that with NJS people are paying for a brand rather than a technically better product then it's not hard to imagine this frame being worth £700 to the right buyer.
Still, sentimental value only extends so far and for that price most people would get a custom built.
Pretty rude of the seller to not contemplate splitting given that the components are nothing special at all and the extreme price involved.

That bike is SICK.
I wish.. -

^^ Rude? Foolish, very possibly, but it's not an actual insult for somebody to hold to their own decision.

Well, yeah. Judging by maximum1's response to people suggesting a split, and flat out refusing to even consider it. I really don't see how it's not worth the effort of splitting. It's a lovely frame with great pedigree but 1600 is a massive amount of cash. Anyway, the dude doesn't really want to sell — I don't blame him. I guess I don't Luke the blatant profiteering of the frames history. Meh.

I don't know what gives people the right to tell others how they should sell their goods and at what price they should sell it.
Having had 2 bonemarrow transplants in the last 7 years and to be still dealing with the considerable side effects I can tell you there are more pressing matters than people telling me how I should sell my own goods

It's amazing how people can call me rude when if they met me in person they wouldn't say boo to a goose. Then hiding behind a username does have its merits!
