If you choose high volume tyres, it seems that they last longer than expected. I have a pair of Rattrap pass EL (26 inch, 54mm), I have ridden around 4500 km on them (including loaded touring), and the central ridges (?) have just began to fade.

That my experiences too, I managed a little over 10,000km with the old Grand Bois Hetres which were made in the same factory.
