Policy lols: https://www.greatagain.gov/policy/immigration.html
A Trump Administration would execute on the following ten-point plan to restore integrity to our immigration system, protect our communities, and put America first:
Build a Wall on the Southern Border
End Catch-and-Release
Zero Tolerance for Criminal Aliens
Block Funding for Sanctuary Cities
Cancel Unconstitutional Executive Orders & Enforce All Immigration Laws
Suspend the Issuance of Visas to Any Place Where Adequate Screening Cannot Occur
Ensure that Other Countries Take Their People Back When We Order Them Deported
Finally Complete the Biometric Entry-Exit Visa Tracking System
Turn Off the Jobs and Benefits Magnet
Reform Legal immigration to Serve the Best Interests of America and its Workers -

America is sitting on a treasure trove of untapped energy. In fact, America possesses more combined coal, oil, and natural gas resources than any other nation on Earth.
Rather than continuing the current path to undermine and block America’s fossil fuel producers, the Trump Administration will encourage the production of these resources by opening onshore and offshore leasing on federal lands and waters.
We will eliminate the highly invasive "Waters of the US" rule, and scrap the $5 trillion dollar Obama-Clinton Climate Action Plan and the Clean Power Plan and prevent these unilateral plans from increasing monthly electric bills by double-digits without any measurable effect on Earth’s climate. Energy is the lifeblood of modern society.
bye bye Paris agreement.

Well, it wouldn't work in America. But I agree that low turnout is a problem, both in the US and here. I think there are more organic ways to achieve the goal than law making and policing.
Also, the idea of having compulsory voting and an unelected head of state in this country would make my head explode.

can't be any worse than fptp.

Australia has compulsory voting, but also in practise a near two party system and the last PM was a bit racist and sexist too.
If the outcome is a more varied and moderate government where people feel more empowered it may not be THE solution by itself. (but fuck FPTP)

I am going to play devils advocate here:
USA stops buying SA oil, and drills its own and buys Canada oil. No need to get involved in ME anymore, more peace.
Cos a lot of this environmental talk is shorthand for "you can have a mess over there, but not over here".
[of course creating jobs by also building a shitload of solar panels and windmills and hydro plants is better, but hey...]

more peace
You wish.
Cos a lot of this environmental talk is shorthand for "you can have a mess over there, but not over here"
Not necessarily, the focus is (or at least should be) on renewable. Just hand the keys over to Elon ;)
There is a nice bit in here about anti-solar people in the states (2-ish mins in):

Oh great, I hope he's not going to go the way France went: We have one asshole, let's bomb the shit out of everyone.
I agree the focus SHOULD be on renewables, but I have a very angry Canadian friend on FB who simply doesn't understand why the USA doesn't want a pipeline cos environment but is happy to buy ME oil. He's not entirely wrong.
Now if the government wants renewables but offers the jobs first to oil workers/ex oil workers/ex factory workers that can work too.
California invested a lot, created a lot of jobs, the model is just around the corner. If the USA needs to do a Norway and sell oil to invest in the change of infrastructure, so be it.
But perhaps Trump is going to get ME oil and local oil and just use up more and we are nowhere ;) And there's a strong anti science link in his mates. Cos...science is for experts and we hate them, until we need a doctor or a mechanic or another expert ;)

Brazil has compulsory voting too, and i think polling day is like an unofficial mini bank holiday.

I'm curious why people think renewable energy is more expensive to the consumer. I've just changed my supplier to one that only buys renewable energy and the per unit cost has gone down massively.

Bulb. I reckon we'll be saving £3-400 a year combined fuel.
But only for people who would vote for the person that we voted for.
