Why did Shimano go from 7900 to 9000, not 8000?
-
• #80078
8000?! umadbro?!
-
• #80079
Because 8000 is XT
-
• #80080
It was used for their MTB stuff?

If you google shimano 8000 you will find it does exist, but not really much use for bikes, unless your bike likes fishing

So foolish of me. Strange that the numbering system has gone a bit all over the shop.

If you bought a track frame and the rear wheel had rubbed the brake bridge enough to make a tiny hole would you consider this an issue?
-
• #80090
Yes (unless you knew you were buying a bike with a hole in it). However if it happened to me on a bike I already owned (as in cause through my riding it) I'd be less concerned.
-

"A tiny hole"...
By 'hole' you mean something that goes all the way through? As in removing at least the full thickness of the tube wall over an area that matches the profile of the tyre?
Would you regard the brake bridge as a structural element?

x post from Norwich thread
I'm up in Norwich this weekend and fancied racing the Easter League cyclocross at Fakenham. Would anyone happen to be driving there from Norwich and have a spare spot in the car, or have an ingenious solution for getting a bike to Fakenham from Norwich on a Sunday? I'd rather not ride the 30 miles, race, and have to ride back.

This is what I mean.
Structural yes, but I have no idea how much this affects the frame which is why I'm asking

Unlikely to explode and kill you but if it is not as described and it annoys you then I would at least try and get some of the money back or return for a full refund.

I was imagining something deeper that exposed the inside of the tube...
If I'd done that myself and I didn't want to ever fit a rear brake, I'd probably paint it (if only to prevent corrosion) and carry on.
If I'd paid good money and the frame arrived with undisclosed damage I'd take issue.

Any interested in wall mounts for your bicycle?
We have developed Knag - the cycle wall mount =-)

Why are they so expensive?
-
• #80098
It's hard to see in that pic but the steel has been rubbed away about 3mm deep, exposing a 4mm wide hole that's been plugged with brass in the past and has been re-exposed because of more rubbing. He obviously likes running tyres too big for such tight clearances...
I'm annoyed as much because he was a twat about shipping than the damage itself, and it also makes me wonder what else has been left undeclared under the paint...

Takes fucking ages to relabel and rebox them.

Looks good - and structurally safe (as long you dont fit a brake).
