Can a newspaper pay for a rottweiler lawyer? They can't reward criminals but I suppose she's not a criminal at this stage.
Can't see any reason why they can't pay her for her story and she uses the money to pay for legal representation. It might well be contrary to some newspaper code of conduct, but then they all ignore them anyway.
