• Chris King R45s (ceramic bearings!) on H Plus Son Archetypes, with black double butted spokes (not sure of brand). Still very smooth, but they're probably coming up to their service interval.

The freehub has some marking, as is expected with an alloy freehub body, but it's nowhere near as bad as I've found the marking on Hopes to be, and the rims look to be no more than halfway through their usable life (front has one small flat spot from a pinch puncture on a pothole).

Come with Ultegra skewers (if you want them) and 28c Continental tyres (Ultra Gatorskins?). Front tyre has literally 15 miles on it, rear tyre still has lots of life left in it.

£425 ono (a slight price drop from the previous thread they were hidden in the middle of). I'm in London on 14 September if anyone wants to meet up and grab them then.

  • Price drop to £400 if someone takes them on Wednesday (14 September) when I'm in London for work.

The hubs are worth £400 on their own.

  • Pm'd

  • Got a photo of the damage?

  • Beauties. glws

  • Are they no longer available?

  • These wheels are still available. I bought them from Tom but no longer need them. PM me if you're interested.

  • Wheels are no longer for sale as I need to organise returning them to @tom. for a refund.

  • Rob inspected these in person before he bought them and has had them for over a week.

They were sold in good faith, and described honestly. Looking for minor problems because you've changed your mind doesn't entitle you to a refund.

So these are still for sale, by Rob.

  • Tom, you were over half an hour late to meet me in the morning, at which point I had to quickly inspect the wheels before rushing to work. At that time you conveniently only pointed out the one flat spot you had mentioned in your listing, but neither of the three other dents on the rims. I've attached pictures to illustrate.

Only today did I get a chance to properly inspect the wheels as I intended to list them on here, because I no longer need them. Unlike you I have no intention of misleading buyers, and would not feel comfortable selling them as they are.

I don't believe you sold these to me in good faith, otherwise you would have been completely transparent with all of the faults.

  • You are given a chance to inspect them, and you did, and you paid once you were satisfied.

By your own admission, the dings which you now consider to be a deal breaker weren't visible without taking the tyres off and giving them a good clean (so hardly huge faults), so they weren't visible to me when I listed them, which I did in good faith.

If I'd posted these out, and you'd relied entirely on my judgment, I would refund. But claiming that you're due a refund because you didn't properly inspect something you've changed your mind about anyway? That's just sly.

  • Tom, this doesn't look good.

  • Dunno - if a rim is described as 'no more than halfway through their usable life' you could probably expect a few small chips and scratches.

If they are dents / flat spots well I guess that's different. Are they more than aesthetic?

  • Oh, the second picture (the one that isn't a little chip) is the one I specifically drew his attention to.

  • And the other three you conveniently ignored?

  • I hadn't seen them. They were as visible to me when I took them off the bike as they were to you when you inspected them.

  • Description matches the condition.
Rims wear and get damaged. All part of buying s/h.

Plus. Refunds? Its an online community. Not Ribble.

Seems fishy that you decide you no longer need them and wish to sell on. Only to then demand a refund 3 days later.

  • In which case the wheels aren't as described, which is my argument here.

Yes, I had intended to sell them on as I no longer have any use for them. However, I can't expect any willing buyers to pay the price I did. If I aware of all of the faults I would have been less inclined to buy them myself.

  • Patent defects visible on reasonable inspection and in line with description IMO.

  • That's why you inspect them before you hand over the money, to check that they are as described. Which you did do.

You want to sell them on, don't get any interest and so you look for any excuse (three small chips in second hand rims!) to try and get your money back. Absolutely pathetic, and absolutely transparent.

  • Something or other about dirty laundry? Perhaps a PM might have been more appropriate.

  • I would class those dings and sctraches as normal wear and tear.

These wheels with normal hubs (not ceramic) would cost you around £950 with JRA.

You shouldn't buy wheels for less than half the price expecting them to be immaculate. Well, i wouldn't.

  • Looks like very average wear and tear, likely a misunderstanding as opposed to misleading, but maybe consider sending back a tenner
