I have a load of drawings I've made using a hacked copy of inDesign 5 on my Mac.
Saved as .indd files.
When I try and open them with the legit inDesign 4 on my new PC it says they can't be opened and that I need to update my plugins or upgrade to the latest version of inDesign.
Likely anything I can do on the Mac like resave the files in some other way that'll allow them to play with the PC?

Save them as idml files which have larger compatibility with different versions of indesign
i think is idml, will check

Noice, cheers.

Yeah IDML will fix it. I found out amusingly that 5.5 won't back save to 5.0, which is pretty annoying but also very historic. 6.0 and CC restored that option

Cheers. Converting everything didn't take too long.
Seems to not like things where I've integrated jpegs into the drawings but that's only 1 or two so we are all good.
Cheers very much.

Anyone on here worked in MediaCity? I'm not hearing great things about it but was kinda looking forward to it. I'm only there for 6 days, but I just wanna know what it's actually like rather than judging it from photos and the miserable lot at work.

Anyone fancy designing Champagne 'labels'?
We are releasing an ultra limited vintage Rosé in magnums - only 173 - and we need to dress them.I am currently thinking about getting the bottles engraved like Henri Giraud Champagne

Anyone here using Coreldraw? Some of my menu options aren't showing up. Not the invisible toolbar problem, I sorted that already.
NM, they were displaying on my second monitor (I don't have a second monitor).

Doesn't seem to be much life in this thread.
But.
We are looking to gather a pool of freelance graphic designers for ad hoc support where I work. Ideally should have environmental graphic design experience? We're an Architecture and Interior Design firm.
PM me and I can give you details of how to contact. Cheers! -

Yep, this thread is pretty dead! On the off chance anyone's listening, I'm setting out as an illustrator. Check out my insta for examples of what I'm about

Could anyone tell me where to get hold of a poster frame like this?
It appears to be acrylic with grub screws along the side.

I need to knock up a fairly simple vector graphic and am looking for a free, Mac compatible programme. What would people recommend?

Illustrator 30 day trial?

Good call. Is it fairly user friendly?

I'm numb to its foibles after spending 16+ years in the Adobe bubble so can't really comment, but it makes sense to me. Should be fine for anything simple though.

Doing the same thing today after other devs recommended. Will try and build something and report back if helpful.

Since having to upgrade theOS on my mac for BIM software, all my Adobe has given up. I need a short term free alternative to InDesign for knocking up a zeen/photobook/quiz etc... please can anyone recommend something? I cant seem to find anything that does the job. Key features are the layout functions with auto update of the base images, and paragraph styles.

Tried Affinity Publisher? Was going to give it a go then forgot but looks like it might work for you? Free trial but now only GBP24 for full version.

Cheers, Ill have a play and see.
Its a real pain as InDesign is one of the best programmes I have ever used. Its essential at work and has become my go to for anything i do out of hours too. -

Mac and BIM ay?
I thought they were chalk and cheese. ;O)

Don't its nightmare, we are a firmly mac office but while we have the chance we are testing a few different options. At the moment we have a parallels boot for BIM but are testing a Mac option.
My work has InDesign fully functioning, but I'm testing the BIM on my laptop as its more powerful and has less risk of causing disaster.
Any one on here who does storyboards for film/tv?
We're doing a low budg pilot for quite a big client in the hope of getting a regular, properly funded monthly job going.
The project is a 10/15 second pre-roll ad for VOD. No more than 10 frames I imagine. This time around 1 male character, 1 cat, and 2 or 3 rooms. Would need something done by Tues.
Send a PM if you're interested.
