700/35c tyres and guards in the winter, 650b wheels/ LOL tyres in the summer.
you've got that the wrong way round. Ashton court is at it's best when it's cold and empty

See?! Tig is the new fillet brazed. You heard it here second (see V 94 of Dammit's yetanothercustombike thread).
Hoops paint it one plain colour in maybe a nice baby blue do it do it.

Yep, mandrel bent 10mm wishbone for max clearance.
Not at all secret paint, going simple with this one. Only painting the frame and stem, rest is going to remain unfinished. Planning on VW Oak Green and red graphics with matt carbon parts to mimic the old mk 2 golf gti's.

Not glued I guess, as wishbone hasn't been welded in yet.

Will be mostly on road during winter tho! Guards will come off easily to do the odd day of winter trails tho.

TIG has been on trend for ages now!
Paint is gonna be simple on this one... see my earlier post!

Im stuck on tyres for this. Tempted by the Compass Bon Jon, but want something with a bit more off road/gravel grip to begin with. Leaning toward Challenge Almanzo Pro open tubular. Will be running with tubes. Tubeless can GTFO.
Advice?
-
• #17
Compass are fine offroad unless it's really muddy, bit sketchy in loose gravel/sand but what isn't? File tread not gonna be significantly better.
-
• #18
Not significantly better, but better for my intentions none the less.... So why opt for the Compass other than the fact its the 'on trend' tyre of the moment?
-
• #19
because to go off road you have to wear this?!
-
• #20
I dont get it.
-
• #21
dont go off road :'(

I live in Bristol.

Cos they'll be loads nicer on the road.
-
• #24
Other than trend-factor, you'll save a 100gr per tyre by opting for the (heavy) Compass version. I've tried neither, but want to try both.
Looking forward to following this build.

I have only positive experiences of the Almanzo both on and (light) off road.
