The best way to filter at speed is to not do it.

Once traffic is moving at around 35/40ish I just sit in the lane with them.

When does "filtering" become "undertaking"... There are many times I could pass through between 2 lanes of cars moving at 50 in a 70 zone, but I don't tend to as I think it's a bit yobbish/unnecessary.

Anyone know what the legal side is?

It's not sommuch a case of legal or illegal. But getting done for dangerous driving and driving without due car and attention.

The 20/20 'rule' is pretty good start point. And then use common sense and ride safe.
