Two types of hubs on the Halo wheels.
The Fix-G format requires splined sprockets, the wide base is as it says to stop the sprocket digging into the freehub. If you strip down a cassette the sprockets will also fit the hub, however being narrow they will chew into the hub body, also using cassette sprockets is bad for your health as they are ramped to allow gear changes, it's not unheard of for single speeders to slip the chain under load due to the ramps.
Just get wide base fixed splined sprockets. The other format comes in Fixed/fixed or Fixed/Free
Fix/Fix is dedicated to running 2 fixed sprockets. You can also slip on a free wheel.Fixed/Free is one side fixed with lockring counter thread, the other side is threaded for a freewheel only so you can't run a lockring and go double fixed.
If your 100% sure on only being fixed go Fix G.
If your 50/50 go Fixed/Free best of both worlds.
Running a freewheel may not be ideal on Fix/fix but it is doable.I would await other views. I got fix/fix as it was the only choice, i have been running a freewheel with no issues for years on the hub.

Cheers for the reply Superfly – answered everything I needed to know.
Looks like the Fix-G only comes on the Aero Rage range, and these annoyingly don't come in silver – upgrading my rear wheel from a DP-18.
Thanks again.
Hi all,
Just about to purchase a Halo Aero Track fix/fix rear wheel and wanted to check with you guys about cog compatibility. Been reading on the Halo website and noted the following:
*Note: Must ONLY ever be used with 7mm base 'Wide Foot' cogs such as Gusset 'Double Six' cogs to avoid the cog biting into the alloy splines on the hub. Regular width HG cogs should NEVER be used.
There also this Fix-G thing.
Anyone got a set and be recommend what cog to put on them?
Your help would be much appreciated!
