  • i saw one in the factory musuem , i don't rate it , not made in Italy

  • Nice Buckler! Will raise a good penny I guess

  • agreed, goes with my roadie!

  • It's still for sale. The guy selling it is a former road pro. Won Liege-Bastogne-Liege back in 1990.

  • the top bidder is a name I recognise , i think one of the couple from Kasterlee who usually source a few rarer models

  • And the Wincanton Classic in Brighton in 1991. Probably the highlight of his career.

    He's a DS at Cannondale-Drapac these days I think?

  • Correct. His brother has a bikeshop (Van De Water) in Kasterlee. He had a nice Gios bike for sale recently.

  • Think for a Belgian rider L-B-L is more of a highlight than Wincanton. ;-)

It's possible he's working for Cannondale right now, I don't know.

  • I know, I was joking. I think winning a monument trumps pretty much everything else.

  • Haha, but wasn't the Wincanton Classic a World Cup race either back in the nineties?

  • I think they had a buckler carbitubo Crono a while back , they've had a few master crono's in their time as well

  • anyone seen steel vintage's prices recently ?
the brand seems to be consistently the most expensive

  • Prices are high, that's for sure. But I'd say that goes for several Italian brands (and Eddy Merckx) that were producing pro's bikes in the eighties and nineties.

  • one wonders where they source consistantly , I think they 'broker' some bikes , getting pretty well established as market leader for vintage imho though

  • missed two mx leaders last week at 300 euro and under a piece , and a mapei lux dream went for 300 , some stuff still out there ....

  • if you want Merckx, you need to go to Germany. Plenty of Corsa Extra over there (mostly Team Deutsche Telekom - wonder why...) for reasonable prices.

  • I was just looking locally , don't think I'm fully committed , all were too big or small but there was room in them to flip
if I really was committed to an mx roadie , I'd like a pinarello Maxim , to match my maxim mtb

  • Nice to be nice
