Spring on both side push the ratchet against each other;
The hubs and the freehub "hold" it in place by the static paw.

So the toothed ring has a spring between it and the freehub body. This engages and disengages with the teeth in the hub body. So everything locks together when you pedal and clicks away when you stop. It's a proper low pitched grumble of a click though, sounds mean. Love it.
Edit: beaten to it with a better explanation. But the teeth in the hub body aren't sprung. They're static teeth in the body for mavic.
Haha. Haribo eaten and I'm still happy with the wheels. Got the thru axle adapters off. Just waiting for the QR adapters to arrive. The freehub is crazy. 40 tooth ratchet rather than pawls. And the hub and rim are very nice in the flesh (metal).
