Yes and no.

While the road 11 speed cassette required a 11 speed freehubs, new Shimano 11 speed MTB cassette are design to run on 10 speed freehubs, however you need to keep your eyes peeled for a wheel that clearly stated up to 11 speed (like the Halo Vapour).

Getting a cold sweat my Halo Vapour wheelset, currently being built, isn't going to take an 11sp Shimano 5800 cassette. @edscoble do you know which Halo hubs are 11sp road compatible? Currently going with a Supa Drive rear hub (HUHA6SS2). Thanks very much

My Vapour wheel is 11 speed compatible, I think that is 11 speed otherwise they'd mentioned 10 speed.

BTW if you're using thru-axles, you really gonna struggle pulling off the QR adaptor cap as it felt like it need a tool to removed it.
