Yeah, On One said "Don't drill it" but as long as it's done well like you describe I can't see what harm it would do
-

They also advised me not to cold set the rear to 135mm but that worked without any detrimental effect. (5 years on)
-
• #6254
Haha. Sounds like you got away with it!

I've got the original, unused, fork from mine, under the bed, if you mess up with the drill and need another...not trying to be a harbinger of doom, but if you need it, for the cost of postage it's yours. My frame is a large, but would guess the forks all have the same length steerer.

Thanks jcac! Always good to have a back up plan
-
• #6257
The fork only comes in one length if bought separately. If you ain't got a pillar drill an engineer would only charge a few quid. A box of tea bags or packet of biscuits would more than likely get it done for nowt.

Shimano fit and forget UN55. I'm guessing.
I'd wait confirmation, but square taper bb makes me guess shimano. -
• #6259
Yeah, the UN55 or the UN72 if you can find one (has a better quality nds cup than the UN55).

Nice one ! Really like it (even with the thomson and flite, it's too common now) :)
What's the name of the tyres and diameter please ?

I'll try and get one today mate
-
• #6269
Haha, cheers man. Yeah exactly that
-
• #6270
I have the Zee crankset - chain line isn't perfect, but never any problems (using a KMC half link chain)
As elsdg has said, using spacers was the key. -

insert winter is coming meme here
There's no reason not to drill the front to. I'd be inclined to take the fork off and use a pillar drill working from the rear to insure it's lined up.
