It'd be easier for the CIA or FBI to bump him off, like they did with Kennedy.

The FBI are already in bed with him though.

If he did get in, I'd imagine there'd be wide-spread social unrest and many, many assassination attempts on him. The pentagon are probably super keen on having a full-blown dictatorship as well.
