I picked up a pair of the Zipp firecrest 303 rims yesterday in 18/24.
Just looking at hub options, DT Swiss 240 looks like the standard, any other to consider? Dura Ace?

The obvious American brands?
Depends how much you want to spend really

I'd be erring on the reliable and longlasting rather than super-lightweight side of things.

Chris King is too expensive.

Hello Forum,
Advice please - where is the thinking at for ridden all year / long distances / not racing wheels if I have £500ish to spend? 85kg rider. I've had open pro laced to campag centaur for 7 years now and the rims are about done. What to replace with? DCR has been extremely good on email and I'm tempted by his own brand ceramic rims and hubs with CX rays. Alternatives?
Suggestions most welcome!

All skewers are a bit shit after using DA ones...

not racing...CX rays
Save your money, CX-Rays are for marginal gains. There, I just saved you £60-£100, please send to my bank account :)

Fair enough!
What about the rest of the wheels?

What about the rest of the wheels?
If your Centaur hubs are still good, why not reuse them? That's another £100 I've saved you :)

They are getting a bit 'Trigger's Broom' after a fair few sets of bearings. There is too much play in them now.
I also want something snazzy and new!

I perhaps should have added that I'm running a Schawlbe One 28c at the moment, so there is a fair amount of bulge over the edge of the Open Pro. I'm therefore keen to get into the wider rim game.

This is an idea which I can get behind.

Haha. Haribo eaten and I'm still happy with the wheels. Got the thru axle adapters off. Just waiting for the QR adapters to arrive. The freehub is crazy. 40 tooth ratchet rather than pawls. And the hub and rim are very nice in the flesh (metal).

I love the DT Swiss freehubs, vey simple and easy to service than the old pawls system.

This is mavic though.
'Instant drive 360'
New for their 2016 onwards road range I think?Edit: just googled the dt Swiss ratchet. Identical. Good solution so can't blame mavic for copying it I guess.

How do they engage/disengage? Are they all sprung or something?

How do they engage/disengage?
Magnets

Sorry, that refers to Zipp's implementation.
DT use springs on both sides ,
looks like Mavic uses a spring on just the freehub rotor side
Has anyone used Bikestacja.pl at all? Prices seem pretty good for wheels:

Well when the exchange rate improves anyway
