thanks - that's a good shout. A bit cheaper than nanos as well.

PlanetX had Nanos for £20 a pop recently, in case they're better suited for the riding you've got planned

25c Paves or 26c Gravelkings for epic ardennes rides on the go fast bike? 25c Paves are a tight fit on 18mm internal on my fork, wonder if the gk's are going to fit. Anybody have them fitted? Any alternatives I should be looking at?

I've ordered the gravelking SK in 40c now. Provided it doesn't turn really wet between now and next Friday, I think they will be a good choice.
Route is not completely done yet but it will be mainly towpaths and bridleways, starting from Wrexham.

I've got the 26c on DT R24s which are 18mm internal I think so will get the calipers out and measure tham for you. I'd guess they're about 28ish

Would also be fitting them on R24s so a quick measure on width and height would be just the thing I need. Many good karma will be yours.

26.73mm wide
25.11 from rim edge to tyre top (used a straight edge but didn't have enough hands for the photo)
46.31mm total height of tyre and rim (if that's a useful measurement?)That was at 70psi which is the max I run the front at.
They must have done at least 2k miles, probably more since I put them on. Only 1 puncture. Great training tyres if you have the space on your frame.

Excellent, just the bit of info I needed. If you are ever near Ghent, ring me for beers.

I've got them on some wide rims. Happy to measure. Think they come up smallish IIRC.

Funny you should say that, I've got saturday tickets to the Ghent 6!

Going on thursday and sunday, don't know if my liver can handle more drinking. :)
But nevertheless, I'm always up for a drink. Also, if you need any tips for Ghent, ask!

• #3788
Will be using them on the R24s as a winter set, so all is good.

May well PM you before we go, cheers!

Sadly my forks will not take the 26c Gravelkings, 25c Corsa G+ where tight so could have guessed.
What are my other options on a fast-ish winter tire? Anybody try the Rubino Pro Endurance? -
• #3791
The old 24/25 pave

Marathon winters ordered. Only 1265 grams per piece. Oh well...
-
• #3793
Marathon supreme? worth every penny and grams IMO. Found a 10mm nail through the tyre and somehow it hasn't puncture the inner tube. (Touch wood)
-
• #3794
Nah I dont think they make supremes with spikes

What width tyre should I be looking to use on a 13mm wide internal rim (clincher)? I've had a look around elsewhere but can't figure out what would be best. All I know is that a 25mm is the biggest it will take. Intended use will be on road and potentially on track too. Cheers

13-15mm is normal width for a typical road wheel, so a tyres advertised in a specific sizes is likely to be accurate (close enough at least).

Thanks ed. I should have perhaps been a little clearer, as what I really wanted to know was, would a 23 or a 25 feel better on it, and what pressure would I want to run? (I'm 72kg)
I'm aware of 25mm on wide rims being great, but not sure of the best setup for an older rim (campy omega v) -

Courtesy of Tstr (optimum rather than possible, ie 25mm won't kill you in the face with fire).

Scheme applies to low pressure

Turns out 50mm GB guards do not clear 40c Gravelking SK. Mudguards need to come off.
Damn.
I guess it's for the best. Would only end up with something dragged through and making a mess of them.
Gravel King SK 40c? Not used but heard very good things
