  • Lidl Lewisham has a load of those £10 Van Steenberge brewery 6 bottle packs

  • Makes them sound like 'last request' beers... enjoy!

  • Keep clear bottles away from sunlight. The hop oils inside react with the sun's rays and cause a skunky flavour/smell to happen. Look up lightstruck. It's why lagers bottled in clear bottles taste shit.

  • Nice one, was going to go and look for some this morning!

  • Indeed. Put them in the garden for the pic. They're stored for secondary fermentation in a cupboard. Not sure his long before they'll be ready to drink....

  • Got to a few of those recommendations in 'dam. Thanks peeps. Will need to go back and knock off a few more.

Jopen probably the standout brewer. The stuff from the brewpub in town was all quite sweet.

  • Norwich beer festival starts today! Going to be so broke by the end of the week

  • Went to Brewdog Collab on the weekend.

Ten Dollar Shake (by Siren) was the winner.

I was disappointed by the Brew By Numbers Saison though.

  • Had a porter from Lidl, called The Purple Panther (or something similar) i found it was rather tasty. Would drink again.

  • The hop oils inside react with the sun's rays and cause a skunky flavour/smell to happen.

You don't want to give tips like that to some on here. :)

  • Meantime Black Pale Ale picked up in M&S this evening, very similar to the Budvaar Black that annoyingly disappeared from the pumps of our work local a few months ago. £1.85 for a can

  • Just mixed up my first batch of Star San, didn't realise how little was required. Looks like I've got enough for about 600 litres of sanitiser. That'll keep me going for a few brews...

  • The Greenwich Union is our new local. It is the Meantime flagship pub so has all of their beers on tap but also has an incredible selection of ~150 bottles and cans.

Its beer paradise and the staff are passionate about beer too. Well worth a visit or three.

  • This kind of thing is not going to help my fitness. Curses!

  • Think I used 1.25ml/litre, one thing that does irritate me about the whole homebrewing thing is that almost all measurements are US Imperial. Trying to find proper measurements can be a nightmare!

My favourite recommendation was 2ml / quart...

  • Tesco Express have started stocking some craft-looking cans in their fridges

  • Tesco have Oscar Blues - Dale's Pale and Pinner, Flying Dog IPA and Seasion IPA, and a bunch of other stuff for £2 a can.

  • US Imperial. Trying to find proper measurements can be a nightmare!

    This^

...and all the YouTube tutorials are made by redneck guys in sheds with their kkk robes hanging up in the background.

    And wtf is a carboy?

  • Haha funny you should said that as @mmccarthy uses that word.

  • Damn 'mericans. Apparently a 1 gallon carboy isn't called a carboy anyway, it's simply called a jug. Everything I've ever known is a lie.

  • Northern Monk / De Molen Malt imperial Porter is the business
