    Does anyone run 15" track day tyres? I need some recommendations as i'm planning to use some track days to run in the polo before entering anything actually competitive

  • Yes. There's many options depending on budget and wet/dry or road requirements

  • Yeah i saw the likes of R888s and such. thinking of giving the Dmacks a try in a medium compound for road use / track day runs

  • Nick @ MOT Motorsport really recommends the DMacks but I'd give him a ring and tell him what you're using the car for and he might have other recommendations.

    I think he's been quite impressed by the new Nankang AR1 offering.

    The designs are fine, it's the functionality that sucks ass.

    All Dyson things look cool but don't work well or for very long. All form, no function. All waffle, no substance. Cheaply built for maximum profit and well marketed.

    It makes me cry inside that some people think the company is some sort of British engineering beacon.

  • Say what you want, but a Dyson V8 on the wall of the kitchen helps your valuation in a way that a Bosch doesn't.

  • I've heard a few good reports about the Namkangs

    The yoko neovo(?) are supposed to be good road/track.

    I had yoko a048 in the damp at brands and they were okay if you can get them hot enough. Any standing water and your ass starts taking bites out the seat covers tho

  • You defo should. A double win in fact. You only need to make good stuff look half-cool to sell it, lame stuff needs to look double-cool.

  • I have no idea about the modern stuff but I have a DC04, built in Britain that I bought maybe 15 years ago. Apart from a couple of new filters an a bit of cleaning it has needed nothing and it changed the colour of the carpets when I moved into my house.

  • The hand driers are one of the few types of hand drier that actually work though.

    The airblade has been redesigned. It now hangs on the wall and blows down just like the driers it tried to replace. 😎

    In my experience, all the semi-semi slicks

    eg Yoko AD08R, Federal 595RS-R, and Nankang NS2R

    are good for road and track, but don't expect them to be any good in the wet. The Federals offer the best grip/£ in the dry (again, IME) but I think are the worst out of the 3 in the wet. If you're looking for a true all rounder tyre then look elsewhere.

    I've not tried the Toyo R1R but I've heard good things about wet grip.

    Yoko A048R, Nankang AR1, Federal FZ-201, and Toyo R888R (new R888) are all semi slick tyres and you'd have to try them each to see which you prefer and which works better for your car. That said, I've had Yokohama A048R tyres on the MX5 and they are my tyre of choice so far, but they are very expensive so I will be trying the Nankang AR1 next to see what the performance is like.
