2016-10-31, Rider down, Knightsbridge

Guardian journalist Dawn Foster has just tweeted that there is a cyclist under an HGV outside Knightsbridge station. Paramedics currently at scene. Fingers crossed for them.

Fingers crossed. TfL has now Tweeted A4 Knightsbridge/Sloane St closed due to serious collision.

The Standard are reporting the incident as a fatality.

Fuck. Shaken by this. I'm 23 and go through this junction every day to and from work. Could so easily be me. RIP mate

Shit, thats just by my work and i saw the air ambulance land. Didn't know it was a cyclist. RIP and condolences to the friends and family

So sad, thoughts with poor rider's friends and family.
This junction is one of the nastiest in central London.
One of the twitter photos shows it was a German registered left hand drive lorry, bits of the bike still visible under the front bumper.
The driver being arrested on a 'suspicion' charge is not unusual in these circumstances.

Driver behaviour at this junction is often very poor, as it is such an eye of the needle.

Crash reports indicate that a pedestrian was killed there in 2008, and this is the first fatality since.
