    Obviously, his claim is much too strong, but when reading that list I can't help but think of all the other evil stuff that did get through.

    Basically, they push the envelope really far and think that they can afford to get knocked back on a couple of things. They create an immense workload for the opposition and the public alike in opposing so many eminently unreasonable things that they don't mind if they get defeated occasionally, as they know there isn't enough time in a day to oppose everything that's wrong.
