  • Multi effects unit and a ticket to see his fave guitar player...

  • Eric Clapton seems to be his thing at the moment.

  • Buy him a trumpet...

  • Buy him a trumpet...

    pow!

and take your holidays in the UK.

  • Wasn't supposed to be mean, just being a dickhead... 😘

What guitar has he got, @will_s?

  • Buy him some Skype lessons with Isaiah Mitchell, I know a couple of people who do and they have nothing but the highest praise for his methods... Lovely man and he's an awesome player...

  • He started off on a very cheap beginner model, and then he persuaded me that he needed to be upgraded. After a bit of research, we bought a Vintage v100 off ebay, and got it serviced (if that is the right word) by a chap in Putney.

I won't be getting a trumpet, as he also plays the oboe (grade 7) and piano (grade 6). But I think it is the guitar that he really likes as he spends a lot of time fiddling around on it.

I however know nothing about guitars.

  • my favourite pedal was a delay/looper thing. fun for hours and very versatile for other instruments through a mic as well. With that and a 4-track, you can make some sweet sweet music.

  • by him a ramones record & a mosrite.

  • I have no idea what his ambitions are, and I suspect he needs to improve technically before that starts to develop. He just seems to enjoy it so I will encourage it. Better than playing x-box!

He is also still young and his musical tastes are changing fast, although still more Capital than Radio 6 unfortunately.

  • Thanks. The looper is a great idea. And someone suggested an Apogee Jam.

  • Devi Ever

Oh wow, haven't heard that name for years! Looks like she's still a massive drama magnet.

  • I wasn't aware of the more recent gamergate/kickstarter stuff till I googled but I remember her pre-transistion on an effects forum (harmony central) from 10+ years ago when the pedal brand was called Effector 13 and even then she was getting into fights and producing massive posts about personal problems and falling out with other manufacturers.

Anyway, I was never into the pedals but I have friends who really like them - I preferred ZVEX for my noise. The Fuzz Factory is hands down my favourite dirt pedal! Had a tremolo probe for a while and the probe bit is fun.

  • Andi Allen? I was just checking out his old site last night after finding a custom fx loop thing he made me. I also met him once at a fx nerd gathering - nice guy.

I kind of agree about Zvex, particularly the early stuff before he'd figured out some of the control circuits he uses these days. I used to have a seek-wah which was great fun to play with but useless live because it didn't sync up with anything.

  • Spacemen had a drummer, they always had a drummer...

It's easy to synch to a repeater like the one Pete used, it's a super percussive square waveform... Tougher to synch to a regular vibrato, in The Fucktones we used to play Help Me Ann by The Lyres and that was almost impossible to do live, 100% luck...

  • Here's what my stupid Pedaltrain layout looks like at the moment... That delay's going once I find something I like... Won't have room for an RE20 now and the one I ordered a year ago still hasn't turned up anyway... The space is for a super sweet signature double fuzz pedal that I designed the graphics for, not out yet...

Bit bloody silly, isn't it? 😬

  • Something that makes quite a big difference to sync'ing is whether it's an effect that is triggered by the note (ie. a delay) or something that is constantly running. If it's triggered by each note played, you can get away with nearly having it in time because it doesn't have much opportunity to go out. I think there are some clever modulation fx that re-trigger with new notes but most sequence-y stuff doesn't, so you either need to play to a click or relegate it to studio use.

  • I know them well, they've always left me a bit cold tbh... Ironically, Pete was a big fan of my teenage band and even put one of our singles out... We were total drum machine kids...

  • Nice! Whats second from right on the top row?

Heres mine. Considering swapping out the small stone for an earthquaker depths

  • It's a Jimmy Behan Vox Tonebender clone that @rickster sold me, bloody marvellous it is too... You need MOAR FUZZ!!! 😉

  • Tonebender clone and the muff seem to go nicely together - when I put the muff into that D&C pedal it goes up to 11.

  • I don't know what Space Age is, this was in 1990... Agree with you about Loop, total dog shit...
