Now you see this one-eyed midget

Great article about the recording of that in a Sound on Sound a few months ago.

Too much of nothing
Can make a man ill at ease
One man's temper might rise
While another man's temper might freeze
In the day of confession
We cannot mock a soul
Oh, when there's too much of nothing
No one has controlSay hello to Valerie
Say hello to Vivian
Give them all my salary

Yeah I think it is a bit rude. He might be important enough to get a Nobel prize, but I'm not sure he's important enough to ignore one.

I'm not sure he's important enough to ignore one.
He's doing what he's always done. And critics have always criticised and he don't give a shit
-

He's under no obligation whatsoever to any one. As would be you or I if some random committee gave us a prize we hadn't applied for or sought in any way.
The whole circus is an extended guilt avoidance exercise from Alfred Nobel anyway, a Master of War if you will, so why should Bob even acknowledge it?

I'm a bit disappointed, I've lost some respect from him. Anti-establishment posturing is fine, and entertaining, from a 20 year old, but this is just a bit embarrassing. It has no effect whatsoever on the music I love though.
Reading that through, it sounds odd to have lost respect for someone you never met, and don't actually know. I thought it was an odd choice for the prize in the first place.

He's not been particular anti establishment since his early days. He's always reinvented himself, refused and refuted catagorisation, and been a private man. Though offering the world different constructs of Bob Dylan through his phases. People have left him and people stuck with him.

Just would like to hear a public statement. Something to clarify his position. It's all abit meh
-
• #221
The lack of any response come across as a statement, and quite a big statement, considering the weight nobel prizes seem to carry. Regardless of one's opinion on the importance of the nobel committee, he must realise this. Yes, a bit meh.

The only other winner to refuse his award is Satre. So he's in good company.

He's not refused it, last i heard.

An odd choice to give the greatest poet of the english language a Nobel prize for literature?

Seems you're right
