  • Wankers use all forms of transport.

I was amazed at the behaviour with water bottles on a local half marathon on Wimbledon Common earlier this year. People would grab a bottle at one of the water stations and then chuck it on the ground 30 seconds later despite there being 3 sets of dedicated bins to throw them in at intervals after each water station.

Luckily the organisers had expected some people to be wankers and their staff were there to clear up after the last runners were through.

  • Out in Mallorca the roads were littered with gel packs and almost all were SIS/High5 even though most riders aren't from GB. Seems to be a British tthing.

  • This is inexcusable.

  • In other RP news, 5 guys in a chaingang tried to take Rob Sharland's KOM today

    https://www.strava.com/activities/719598443/analysis/1525/1865

  • At least they bumped Gabriel Evans down a few places...

  • Quite. I've never understood why people toss them away. Is it because wrappers can end up sticky? If you must take them along, put them in your pocket and wash your kit afterwards, which I hope wouldn't be too significant a departure from long-held habits for RP riders. :)

  • What did David Millar do it in before he deleted the video?

  • Faster than the KOM, but it was before the speed humps.

  • 13:35 from a standing start

  • The difference is you can't see the litter that most cars leave behind.

If 5000 cars drive an average of 3 miles through the park every day that's 6.45 tonnes of CO2 they leave behind.

Then you've got the NOx, the CO, the SO2 and the particulate matter.

(Based on an average of 430g CO2 per mile.)

  • Richmond Park is now full of bellowing stags.

7:30 pm yesterday, and a stealth stag gave proper bellow just as I rode past*

Put the wind right up me.

    Tosser.

*I'm assuming he felt threatened by my alpha musk

  • The difference is you can't see the litter that most cars leave behind.

My dad have to pull over on the motorway once to adjusted the bike rack, only to our astonishment to see the amount of rubbish on the ditch thrown from the cars.

  • 7:30 pm yesterday, and a stealth stag gave proper bellow just as I rode past*

Interesting, got to turn on my hearing aids for this.

  • The stags not only bellow.

    They also honk.

I was fairly close to one yesterday, and downwind, and was treated to the full delight of the musk of a stag in rut.

  • Serves you right for riding so close behind Ed

  • Anyone else get thrown by the Park being closed today Sunday 30th Oct.

  • Only if they didn't check the website.

  • Why would people check the website for every piddling place they might happen to ride through?

  • @kati just send me this;

  • Richmond park. Pending tossers

  • It's getting worse though.

I commute through the park most days, while i was halfway through going through the pedestrian gate, guy on a mountain bike tried to barge his way through and then called me a cunt for the priveledge

  • But was he wrong?

  • I would suggest so but i guess he had a different opinion.

Everyone else seemed to be able to cue / take turns at using the gate from both sides in a civilised manor

  • Alas it happens, and no, I wouldn't check the website - it is a park!

No big deal, I did try and tell some heading to the park and I think some got the message.

  • Made the mistake of going to RP this morning!
Am I mistaken or does the Highway Code not apply for cyclists in the park?
Did a pleasant lap with no dramas, then decided to stop for a break then go back home clockwise. Nearly got knocked off by some ct overtaking someone who was already overtaking a car between Roehampton and Robin Hood.Much shaking of heads.
Then nearly got knocked over by another c
t speeding down the hill who doesn't believe he should give way to someone already on the roundabout!
Suggest that midday on a Sunday isn't the best time to try for a personal best.
Is there some correlation between amount of money spent on bikes, kit and c**ty riding ?
I'm not saying I don't take the piss with the speed limit but there's a time and place for it.
