That sounds... Interesting!
I'm more motivated by the fact that I built my canti cross bike in a couple of hours, raced it, it was good, and I want to race again in a week. I haven't the time to faff anymore, even though the issues are easily resolved there's no motivation since I now have an adequate sscx bike rolling. Such is life. I'm going off projects - is this what getting old feels like?
No idea on flat mounts, that is a question for @amey :)

Ive just had a call from the shop, they're "trimming material from the calliper to stop it fouling the rear wheel etc".
My next disc bike will be flat mount. Is that right?
