Hydros are more maintenance-free than cable discs. If something does go wrong you're less likely to be able to fix it by the roadside but the chances of that happening are very, very slim.
The only time I've heard someone genuinely promote cables > discs was a salesman convincing me that the Genesis Longitude swapping from hydros to mechanical discs between model years wasn't a downgrade to meet increasing costs but a 'feature'.
