^ But the thing is the comparable model is the 13" MBP which has Intel Iris graphics rather than a dedicated card. So the Surface is knocking it out of the park for comparable cost/performance.

Also, not sure what the Radeon Pro 460 actually is? Couldn't find it listed anywhere...

Basically, Razer Blade Pro.

It's a strange time when Razer anything is seen as cost effective.

Have we reached peak laptop? Is it now about weight and finesse rather than performance? So my 1 year old last gen macbook pro is pretty much on par with the 4 year old macbook pro I had after upgrading it to a ssd and 16gb ram. It's of course not exactly the same, but the difference isn't worth the money unless my old laptop was worn out. Haven't tried the new ones, but looking at specs it seems to be kinda the same thing again? Nicer laptop for sure, but faster? Not so much.
Makes me wonder if the next setup I'll have will be an iMac at home for work, and a 13" macbook for travels, on site work and sofa.

Contradictory to each other no? If we had reached peak laptop then both would be benchmarks, its still kinda 3-ish year old spec for twice the price. I was really hoping Apple would give me less reason to hate at this keynote. I might evangelise on Medium how photoshop is actually much better than sketch just so I can use a cheap windows machine.
Tbf a lean workflow means a 12 inch macbook can also handle 'work'.
A great example of peak and then finesse is DA9000 to DA9100.

And I hate windows and android for how badly designed it is but it gives me money to buy bikes. /csb

Yeah, not making them themselves?
Did they ever? Thought it was always LG or Samsung who did.

Lolz. My top spec MBP (literally everything maxed out) was something like £2200.
Why does my rectum suddenly hurt?

• #10012
Now that's a decent laptop.

• #10013
It's just the MacBook Pro that got updated?
-
• #10014
Supremely disappointed by the new Macbook Pro. Apart from the video card and that silly touch bar; the specs are nearly identical to my 2012 Retina.
Pah.
-
• #10015
Yeah. They held a 2 hour event for an f-row touch thingy, incremental updates and massive price hikes.
2011 MBP still more than adequate, even with the shitty tn panel.
The new one should run DayZ nicely tho.

Page 404 ftw.

• #10017
Yep. Over it. Honestly considering switching.
I'll wait until I find out more about the gpu, bet it won't run dayz well...

Anyone wanna do a kickstarter for a USB escape key dongle?
-
• #10019
Balls, kinda hoping something a little more than just that, it look like something that should have been updated a couple years ago.
Kinda glad I went for the Google Chromebook Pixel over the MacBook now.
-
• #10020
Why the fucking shit did they increase the price 80%!?
-
• #10021
Sorry.
-
• #10022
Not sorry.
-
• #10023
Yeah, not even my uni discount can save me. Nearly £300 more for the old 15" since last week. Fucking Farage.

Whats the simplest way a technophobe like myself can make my mac a little more private/ secure online? Is there an app or simple pay service that will do it, should I set up a vpn (I'm pretty sure I know what is involved) and if so who is good to use for that.
Any suggestions are welcomed thanks. -

Swedish vpn (Mulvad, relakks), disk encryption, 1Password, stealth mode firewall settings, tor browser, proton mail.
Once you've done all that, you'll be on a register.
fuck me, so glad I bought mine 6 months ago instead of waiting.
