I stayed at the Tropicana in a 'pool side' room. It was $100 for the night and we booked it the day before we arrived. I would recommend it if you just want an average room for the night.
Don't stay in a hotel off the main strip.
I was there for 1 night, me and my girlfriend just spent the evening wondering up one side of the strip and back down there other. Gambled less than $100. All the casinos are connected by walk-ways.
