I liked mine, but damaged it. I think it would only really protect the screen from a single impact though. If you do get one, fit it after a hot shower. The steam catches all the dust in the air making it much easier to get it on in one go

My Nexus 6P now has Android 7.1.1
Running a beta?
Yup.
Not much difference apart from notifications though.

Mine started this about 3 weeks ago, it's cool if the screen brightness is about half way.

Whats the best replacement for a Nexus 7 that isn't a Pixel C? £100-200?
-
• #17981
Samsung Nope 7

Damn. Not the only one then. I no longer have the screen res on auto to save battery. But happens when the phone goes into locked mode. Software issue you reckon? Samsung aint pushing marshallow 6.0.1 for a while to the s5 and lower so a waiting game.
Should be fine for another year?

Don't think it's software, I've changed ROM since it started with no change.
-
• #17984
Cheers, I'll look at getting one to give it a try.

This has probably been answered upthread: what's the best place to buy a Nexus 5X right now? I'd rather not get a reconditioned one..

Actually Sony state that swimming in a chlorinated pool is a supported activity:

I think the issue may have been the Sodium Hypochlorite system in use at the pool. It was Centre parcs in Woburn which uses this:

The water did have a slight salty taste to it, which my daughter commented on.
I'll not be telling Sony though.

How do you change the ROM? Factory reset worth doing?
-
• #17989
Try a reset first, check xda for ROM messing guides, I just updated to a newer stock from the correct area after running an early release from somewhere else before.

• #17990
Check the bootloader too.

On the verge of getting a 32gb 5x to replace an HTC m7 that's done a great job. I was waiting for the pixel, but it's just silly money for a phone.
As far as I can see Argos £265 seems the best bet for a UK source. Otherwise there are a few offshore places selling at £225
Before I press the button - any better options at this kind of money?

Reset failed - however android 6.0.1 has been pushed through
EDIT: The update seems have to resolved the issue :) (for now)
Edit: its back

I'm looking for a small tablet (ipad mini size, or smaller) that I can use in my car. I literally only want to store music on it and bluetooth it to my stereo, so all it needs are largeish (or expandable) storage and bluetooth. I don't care about whether it's got the latest android or whatever.
I want it to be cheap :)
Are there any tablets from far east manufacturers that I've never heard of that people on here have tried and would recommend?

Just seen Argos has 2nd gen Nexus 7 for £110 which might be the obvious solution; reviews saying 6.0 runs super nice on it still
-
• #17995
It runs "ok". I find it is very sluggish esp. when compared to a modern phone.
I'm looking for a new tablet to replace my 2013 N7 for this very reason

Not used them.
I did really want a Pixel tablet.
https://store.google.com/product/pixel_cBut once you add the RAM and stuff I felt it was a bit pricey.

Fucks sake. Finally due an upgrade and there are no bloody Nexus 5x's about any more. What are my other alternatives? Mid-range, not massive...

I have just got a oneplus 3 and it's nice (but prob in the massive category).

Z3 Compact
Are the tempered glass screen protectors any good. It's for a tablet rather than mobile so won't be in a pocket but I'd like to be able to put it in a bag without having to bother with a case. It's only a cheap tablet so not the end of the world if it does break. Mainly used for watching videos though so don't want anything that will degrade the screen quality.
