Sunday morning went for a wintery ride up to Loch Arklet, about 80 miles round trip, 65 of them freezing my ass off. Lots of single-track roads strewn with gravel but no one else out and no rain.
Decided I need winter pants, alpinestars valparaiso 2 ordered.

beautiful! i see you took some hot food too!

Lovely view. What were you wearing? Leather and long johns might still be okay for us in london, for a bit

Haha. Wasn't hot by the time I got there lol.
Never gets that cold in Glasgow itself, just as soon as you get up the hills the temp drops a lot. Currently some rst cheapies, not waterproof, not windproof and not nice in summer either, tbf they were 80£ -

I've got some lovely Hein Gericke leather trousers, great in summer and they've got a thermal inner you can put in for winter, absolutley great. They were about £200 quid mind, they're for touring so there's no knee down action but they feel so good to wear. Definetely worth the investment.

I need some new Trews for winter commuting.
Probably going to get Alpinestars Andes to match the coat I have.
I always size up and wear my work trousers underneath for double layer (plus longjohns if I'm feeling chilly) -

I've been wanting some new trousers for a while but not sure what I want and not found anything that's convinced me that they are what I want.
I was thinking about something with knee sliders which would probably mean leather but that's maybe optimistic so then textile could be back in the equation.
I wear both leather and textile jackets and would like trousers that could go with either. Textile trews with leather jacket would look wierd I think...?

I'd have thought the opposite if anything.

Just wanted to grab the hive's thoughts on this MT-07 : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262661275996
I went to check it out, it's literally flawless, full Yamaha service history, clean as new, not ridden in the rain, kept indoors, etc.
Looking on ebay it's hard to see exactly what a fair price for a MT-07 is. £4,600 seems a bit high as I was offered the new SV650 @ £5k.
Also I haven't test ridden an MT-07 just the XSR-700 (which is essentially the same but a bit higher seat as I understand).
The guy understandably isn't keen on allowing test rides, so I'm thinking I should find a dealer to get on one just in case.

I'd snap that up if i were you.
I loved my MT07 and, at that price, it runs rings around the SV650.
If I didn't need something for longer journeys (500+ mile days) i'd still have mine. -

I have a pair of leather touring style trousers just now with too large a waist (hand me down from my old man) that I've worn with my textile jacket and thought it looked ok.
I have a pair of pretty rubbish textile trousers too actually so I can try out all looks.
What I think I really want is a pair of riding jeans with a bit of protection in them but I want them to look like nice jeans, not something designed in the 90s or like something a member of a white power group would wear...

Hmm.... OK time to check the insurance cost and see if I can knock a bit off the price.

I think Revzilla had a pretty extensive Jean review.
TBH I'm not that convinced about jeans anymore. If you have any padding / protection then they look a bit odd. I feel like they might be the worst of all worlds.

New bike! 2007 Husqvarna TE510. It's registered and fully street legal in California but is basically a full on, open class dirt bike. Needed a number plates bike to take part in the LA-Barstow-Vegas enduro that happens the two days after Thanksgiving. 500 miles of off road through the Mojave and surrounding deserts between Palmdale and LV. Got a bit of prep to do on it...and probably need to learn how to use a roll chart.
And do some exercise...
Woohoo!

That looks fun.

DO IT!

It's extremely naughty! - weighs 250lbs dry, stock (mine's got a much lighter full system and lithium battery) and makes about 58hp. Going to have to sell it after the race - I'm not responsible enough to have it on the road without getting into some serious bother....

I think I'm going to. I'm just a bit nervous having not thrown my leg over one yet.
Would £4,350 be too cheeky?

That sounds awesome.

A serious hardcore 4 strokes mono cylinder..:))) Lowering the front and with road tires must be a lots of fun too...

Rokker chinos are pretty good. Got a pair and they fit me well and look close to normal black chinos. If you want blue jeans I've not seen any yet that look great but have the protection.

It's winter. Buyers market.
If you're going to use it to commute, i'd get one that's been used a bit more, save a bunch of money as you'll only scratch/dent it if commuting with it every day.

I see.
Haha. The ride back via epsom downs and the race track was great
