  • She's a lady

    This

    skunk-emanating divs

& this is why I come here.

  • 2 weeks without commute (hols) back into 3 degrees (and 3 layers!) and pitch black, its 2 lights up front and 2 behind now plus ZAP jacket - still wonder why people pass so close or take the risk into on coming headlights on the country road into the city.

got beeped by an Skoda driver who tried to undertake me at a 3 lane roundabout and wanted to come off at the same exit as me with me being in the CORRECT lane ............. sigh - and so its back to the norm....

  • ....just to explain my downbeat post- i had 2 weeks hols in Orkney ,cycling the islands and beaches with no helmet and drivers slowing and waving and smiling at us as we cycled around............

  • Saddle clamp bolt snapped 2 miles from office = last 2 miles out of the saddle :/

  • Saddle clamp bolt snapped 2 miles from office = last 2 miles out of the saddle :/

i'll bite - "well that is a pain in the arse"
thankyouverymuch i'll be here all week,

  • Left-side crank on the Graham fixed coming loose AGAIN

    Time for some threadlock.

Shout out to the cyclist on the red 'Dale for stopping to see if I was OK while I tightened it up :)

  • A crank coming loose repeatedly can be a sign of wear between the crank and the BB axle. Time for an upgrade?

  • Sugino 75 in good nick on a Ritchey vintage NOS BB... the tapers match (ISO on ISO)

I don't see how it could be worn. But you could be right, there could be something worn or not OK. I'll check :)

  • Is the Ritchey BB JIS?

  • It's ISO I doublechecked, it's an old MTB one, ProLogic in 109 width.

I also have a Gran Mighty ISO crankset on a Miche JIS with 0 problems.

    #puzzled :)

  • Decided to give Vauxhall one way a miss this morning and use the winding cycle paths to go north over Vauxhall bridge, surprised to be face to face with a car driving south down the cycle path on the bridge. How shit a driver must you be to do that? Won't bother with the cycle paths again for south to north.

  • All it takes is for to have been incorrectly installed once (too tight or too loose). The crank material is much softer than the BB spindle so will deform away from the ideal shape very easily.

Once that happens it's bin time.

  • Edit- ignore me!

  • This.

    Bin chainset.

  • Oh great... :(

How can I test for deformation? Just hold it next to the drive side I guess?

  • Bin a sugino 75 chainset, it's truly Monday!!! :(

  • Can you get a good photo of the square taper? Or yes, compare it to the taper of the other crank.

If it has come off more than once I wouldn't hold much hope.

  • I think I have a spare NDS arm if you're interested - I think it's 170mm will need to check

  • How likely is it you'll encounter a driver doing that twice?

Even though the CS is a bit winding with too many traffic lights, to me it's considerably better than the old gyratory. I didn't have too many problems with it, but it wasn't pleasant.

  • Oooh that would be great as it's 170 :)

  • If it happen once, it will happen again, bin the offending crank and replace it with a similar one.

  • TBh I don't mind the one way system going south to north from South Lambeth Road, I hit it fairly early and the traffic seems to get slowed by the lights to make it fairly ok on the bike. The paths were a bit too wandery for me.

  • I guess this is bad...

    Mondays...
