  • Although Cahill played well yesterday, Luiz and Azpilicueta were exceptional. Cahill was a weak link so often in a back four. He is better protected in a back three. JT will struggle to get a slot and will probably morph into a coaching role as the season progresses.

    Fabregas is a strange one. Whereas 3-4-3 brings out the best of a player like Moses,, it does Fabregas no favours. Not sure where he fits in now.

    The irony of yesterday was that, whereas Mata doesn't suit a Mourinho system, he would be excellent in a Conte one and you could see that he realised that.

  • That 3-4-3 is a thing of beauty when it works and it looks like, for now at least, that the squad has bought into it. It gives you so much versatility and with these players and the link up play that they've shown so far I reckon it'll only get better.

    We've also got decent backup players for most positions other than Hazard.

    The extra rest in between matches is only going to help the squad build on their current form.
