  • Don't buy a projector unless you can control the light entering the room or can wait for darkness. Also they work best with a proper screen (for various reasons white walls aren't actually very good to project onto)
    Projectors are amazing, but only if you do it properly.

    As for TVs head over to avforums and read their reviews, they will tell you what is decent and what can be easily calibrated (and usually give starting settings to get you going)

  • Ta very much. Not been to those forums (because why go to av when you have cycling etc).

    A friend had an enormous wall (about 9 metres wide by 5 high) that he projects on and it looks incredible - he's a proper AV head with several fancy projectors plus screens etc that he puts on mobile film screenings with. Still 9 times out of 10 he uses the wall - I guess because of the size (9 times out of 10 he's also screening wrestling but...)
