  • No - you can install the spindle on its own or with the NDS loosely attached, then bolt on the drive side and tap the drive side with a mallet until it sits home. Then bolt down the NDS as per normal.

  • Ah yes, I suppose the spindle could be installed by itself. Not sure how you could install it with the NDS attached though - doesn't the spindle have to be installed from the DS given the shoulder on the spindle on the drive side?

  • If you have the SL spindle with the shoulder, it's supposed to be installed without either arm attached to it.

    The shoulder goes on the NDS and the pre-load is applied through the DS.
