It might be light but damn is it ugly!

But what does it weigh??

My not particularly light HC bike from last year:
- Crack Champ + pre-cracked and modified for regular 31.8 seat clamp.
- Omniums (!) + smallest chainring I owned at the time (51t!).
- A single hooded SRAM brake lever... Felt pretty awkward.
- Cheapest, heaviest alu seatpost in the world, combined with the cheapest, lightest ebay carbon saddle. Neutral grammage.
- DA 7710 x Mavic Reflex x 24mm Conti tub rear wheel, with a relatively heavy Shimano RS61 clincher up front.
Entered local events only, and no outright wins, but won my club c-ship and got to keep a couple of pretty cool trophies for the year.
Then spent this year not riding and getting fat. - Crack Champ + pre-cracked and modified for regular 31.8 seat clamp.

Now down to 6.4kg not bad with the original power2max and external di2.

ok heres mine, scales might not be the most accurate but its hovering around 6kg. Chinese carbon bars/rims. Novatec freehub to fixed conversion. needs better crankset. have lighter veloflex record tyres but these have grip and tomorrows HC forecast is rain.

Interesting - have you cut down the bars? Carbon clinchers? What's the rear hub?

Yeah the bars are cut down, they had an upturned end before - just a generic bar you see on ebay branded as whatever took their fancy that day. Unfortunately the rims are clinchers. I know tubs are the better route to go and shallow carbon clinchers dont really save anything over light alloy rims. Its an F582SB so around the 250g mark+whatever the adapter kit weighs. I dont have a full compliment of sprockets/chainring sizes. I could get the same ratio ive set it up with using a spare ultegra 6800 chainset and removing the outer ring but i wasnt sure if id save anything over the miche primato with token BB. Current chainring is Anlun- very light, very flimsy(probably)

Stick the Records on at low PSI. I've been running mine (23mm) on wide rims ar 65psi on the steep stuff.

Also, get rid of those bottlecage bolts!

Bit of a dramatic video from Mam Nick the past week:

And if we're doing videos, he's a blast from the past featuring a fresh-faced forum member:

Suggestion: tt brake levers and converted climber unit with microswitches
-

Yeah, might go down that route for next year. Sunday is my last HC and given the forecast I am tempted to fit aero bars....

Fixed on a road frame? I thought that was pretty tough to get working...

Eccentric hub

I really really fancy doing a hill climb after those videos
-

That's a bit risky given the torque you'll be putting through the back wheel, no? I had a White Industries ENO once and it really didn't like hard accelerations.

No experience myself so I can't say. Clinton put 510w through it for 4 minutes, presumably without slippage and he's not really known for being smooth.

So do I, even though I would be beyond rubbish and only have a heavy bike. Power of a good video, though.

I love a good hill. I have an old 80's tt frame that would do it. I am also rubbish and would probably need to love some weight.
