  • blue is the plastic protector

    Peeling that stuff off....

  • I'd like to keep it and make a band of tiles in the same color if it's possible. I got other stuff from the era as well.

  • It really makes it look better than it is. I hated it from the moment I saw it. I'm going to knock down a wall and the kitchen will be extended on the right side so the cabinet in the corner is not going to keep looking like that.

Besides, the new kitchen isn't finished yet. It was ugly, dated, didn't function properly. Everything was bad.

  • 3 phase will be for this:

Wan't something like this one in the shed

  • My housemate has managed to put a huge crack in our bathroom sink. Has anyone repaired one before? If so, any tips and techniques, or reccomendations for products made for this sort of thing? I own the house and I'd rather not have to charge him for a new sink but also don't want a leaky piece of shit that looks awful.

  • Change the sink, 'tis fucked.

  • Yup. New sink time.

  • Fair enough. Any idea how much he should be paying to have it replaced? In Leeds.

  • I sacked off a built in storage unit for the alcove and Vitsoe/Royal was a bit rich for me with a trip to Japan around the corner. Used some keeklamp stuff to make a dual hanging rail on the left hand side and ordered a free standing chest of drawers which fit inside.

And found this Ikea desk which fits pretty nicely and I like the look of - string shelves going above and one shelf going below the desk.

Only really radiators to fit and replacing the front door/removing the ugly front porch door. Then it's on to the external...

  • Does anyone know if you can get two-gang sockets that have some play/adjustment? My electrician's helpfully put two sets next to each other that don't align as the socket boxes aren't level (about 10mm diff at worst)

  • My kitchen is happening.

  • It's chased, but doesn't look to have an adjustable bracket - just two screws in the face going directly into two screws in the pattress. Can't see anyway to adjust with the current combination unfortunately

  • How easy is it to get financing for a reno? Who is the best to go for?

  • Depends on the costs....

Borrowing is cheap at the moment with interest rates low but there are limits to loan values and i assume it would be tough to get anything long term signed off as you're a contractor.
You can borrow against your mortgage but i don't know what your LTV, fixed term or interest rates are so it's hard to recommend.

Do you have any idea what you want to do and how much it might cost?

  • Santander were doing up to £50k for some ludicrously low %

  • No it's not happening. Finalised the plan, went to pay. Declined. Money hadn't been transferred....
Guess who's going to IKEA on Friday night?

  • what did the architect say?

  • No idea on cost, but i would like to do a lot... I cant tell you until i know how much i can play with.

Kitchen man has given me the plans. builder is negotiating the plans. Architect hasnt done anything yet.

  • that could get me somewhere...

  • If your flat has appreciated significantly in value then you may be able to remortgage and borrow extra if you still maintain a reasonable LTV

  • IKEA on a Friday night is the best time to go. No one is there. They close late. They have meatballs. It's brilliant.

You have kids. You're middle aged. It's fucking Legoland but just for you!! Embrace it!!!!!!!!
